This guide helps you get set up in Inspect, invite your team, and start testing emails.
1. Sign In to Inspect
After creating your account:
- Go to Mailgun and sign in.
- Depending on your account, you may land on the general Mailgun dashboard. Use the sidebar to navigate to Inspect - there is only one page for Inspect.
From here, you're ready to run your first test. Run your first test
2. Add Your Team
Invite teammates so they can review and test emails with you.
- Click on your name at the top right of the page.
- Scroll down to Inspect Settings and choose User Accounts.
- Do not go to the User Management page under the general Account Settings - Inspect users need to be added separately from regular Mailgun users.
- Click New User.
- Enter their email address and assign a role - this role is for all of Mailgun (details).
- Send the invite.
Your teammate will receive an email to join your account.
Best practice: Add anyone involved in email QA or approvals early.
3. Set Mailgun Inspect User Profiles
User role impacts all of Mailgun. User profiles can be created for permissions specific to Mailgun Inspect. To create or edit these profiles, click Manage user profiles from the User Accounts page.
NOTE: All other account management exists across all of Mailgun. That information can be found here.
4. Understand Usage & Allotments
Inspect usage is based on the number of previews you run.
- Your current usage and allotment are shown in the top right of the main Inspect page.
- Subscription plans: Usage resets monthly.
- Contract plans: Usage is tracked annually.
- Usage can also be found by clicking on your name in the top right and selecting Plan & Billing.
If you exceed your allotment, overages will be accrued.
All other features (QA checks, code analysis, spam testing, etc.) are included when you run a preview and do not have separate limits.
5. Upgrade or Downgrade
If you are on a subscription plan and want to upgrade, downgrade, or contact sales about a contract, click on your name in the top right and select Plan & Billing.
For Developers: Using the API
Everything in Inspect is available via API. Check out the API documentation.
